Charlie was first licensed when he was 13 years old in 1962 as WN4IMC and became WA4IMC a year later. He became NF4A in October, 2000.

He is an active contester and DXer and is member of Florida Contest Group, SEDXC and the Alabama Contest Group. Other calls held include J79PC, T9/NF4A, 9A/NF4A, 9A/WA4IMC, OK8EMC, HA/WA4IMC and P4/WA4IMC.

He also holds the Croatian callsign 9A5PC. He has operated numerous times with the 9A1A M/M contest group and was an operator with the J7DX group for the 2008 ARRL DX contest.

Charlie was also a member of the K4M Midway Island Dxpedition in October, 2009. Charlie is the ARRL Contest Advisory Committee Southeast Division Representative.

Charlie is a broadcast engineer and is market engineer for Clear Channel Communications a large radio broadcasting company.
